New RGV Cookoff Website

April 2009 -McAllen, Tx

Hey This is Richard Womeldorf, RGV Cookoff Gen Manager and WebMaster.

Today we are going to a different format for our website.

Chris and I have a lot a new and neat things coming your way in the future. The mailing list is growing and with that you need to sign up and get all the great breaking news as it happens. The RGV COOKOFF is coming up the 1st weekend of Oct 2009. MARK YOUR CALANDERS NOW !

This new website format will allows us to show you more information at a glance.

Cooking Teams – Listen up !! I want you to send me a picture and a small write up about your team. This event could not happen without our Cooking Teams. Who would like to be on our " World-Wide ~ Grandaddy of Them All ~ Cookoff Site " YOU !

You can start by taking a picture, or sending us a picture of your team from a last event (we don’t care where from) and write up a brief bio about your team, and be sure and include info about your SPONSOR.

Included with your entry fee is your own little place to "plug" your Cookin’ talents and your Sponsor, too. Send them in to me at -> richard (at) rgvcookoff.com

RGV COOKOFF.COM

is now the organizational management group
that runs two events in the Rio Grande Valley.

The Fajita Cookoff
and
The BBQ Cookoff.

Christopher Julian and Richard Womeldorf have made a decision to streamline the overall management and control of the Cookoff Events held in McAllen, Texas every year. The addition of The BBQ Cookoff to The Fajita Cookoff showed duplication in the logistics leading to the Event day. It was thought that running two seperate Events with seperate identities would be best.

The decision has been made to combine the efforts of SetUp teams, Volunteers, and Judges to be run under ONE ORGANIZATIONAL GROUP called " RGV COOKOFF". If sponsers would like to talk with Chris about our "Cookoff System" for your City event, or get involved with the LARGEST and OLDEST Cookoff Organizers in the Rio Grande Valley to date.

(Heck, maybe even the world. Chris and Richard have been doing this a long time…Hear)

New BBQ Event will be Sanctioned

THE NEW BBQ COOKOFF IS SANCTIONED

Smokin’ Since 1976, the Fajita Cook Off is now bigger and better than ever before! This year’s exciting Cook Off will be expanded to two full days of cooking competition as part of PalmFest International Folklife Celebration held lake side on the front lawn of the new McAllen Convention Complex, on October 6^th and 7^th.

By popular demand, the first day of competition will be sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers Association and will include three categories: Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs and ½ Chicken. The 2^nd day of competition will be the traditional Fajita Cook Off with two categories – Traditional and Gourmet Fajitas. Sunday’s competition will not be sanctioned but will retain the previously established rules. Contestants can enter the competition individually or as a team for one or both days.

As part of the PalmFest International Folklife Celebration, with all of its cultural entertainment, civil war re-enactments, art shows, car shows, remote control cars, aircraft and watercraft, volleyball tournament, children’s activities, and Batman (yes, the real Batman), this year’s Cook Off will be a fun and festive weekend for the entire family.
